Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and there’s no better place to celebrate love than at the Crossroads of the World—Times Square!

This year’s Love in Times Square celebrations will be extra special with the unveiling of Love Ever After, a striking heart-shaped installation designed by Pernilla Ohrstedt in collaboration with The World Around. The unveiling took place on February 4, setting the stage for Times Square's Valentine’s Day festivities. This stunning work of public art serves as a symbol of love, sustainability, and community. Constructed from over four dozen oyster cages, the piece highlights how love can help us regenerate and rebuild—just like the oysters that restore New York Harbor’s ecosystems. The project is presented with the support of Billion Oyster Project, emphasizing the vital connection between sustainability and love.

The Art: Love Ever After

Love Ever After is a 50-foot geometric heart sculpture that reflects themes of love, sustainability, and regrowth. Designed by Pernilla Ohrstedt and presented with the support of curatorial partner The World Around and collaborator Billion Oyster Project, the installation embodies community and environmental responsibility. Each oyster cage used in the structure represents the ways love can rebuild, regenerate, and create something new.

The vibrant color palette was crafted by kt.COLOR, known for its expertise in architectural pigments. The design, fabrication, and construction were executed by HEINI, a Brooklyn-based design studio specializing in technical installations. Lighting was provided by Lucifer Lighting, which generously donated twelve custom light fixtures to ensure the sculpture can be experienced at all hours. The project is supported by Times Square Arts, the public art program of the Times Square Alliance timessquarenyc.org which brings innovative contemporary art to one of the world’s most iconic urban spaces.

We invite everyone to visit Times Square and experience Love Ever After in person. Located on the iconic Red Steps, the installation will be on display throughout the Valentine’s Day celebrations.
