The summer season in Midtown Manhattan is officially underway, and the neighborhood is gearing up for one of its most anticipated annual public traditions. The 24th annual Solstice in Times Square: Mind Over Madness Yoga is taking over the Crossroads of the World on Sunday, June 21, 2026. This massive neighborhood activation transforms the busiest pedestrian plazas in New York City into a tranquil, all-day outdoor fitness and wellness celebration.
From sunrise to sunset, thousands of local residents, office commuters, and neighborhood visitors will roll out their mats to find collective calm right in the heart of the city. Organized by the Times Square Alliance, which you can learn more about at TimesSquareNYC.org, this public neighborhood gathering is completely free to attend, though advance registration is required to secure a spot on the plaza.
The History of a Midtown Tradition
What has grown into a world-famous neighborhood event started over two decades ago with very humble roots. On June 21, 2003, only three people gathered at dawn to practice outdoor yoga together in Times Square. Two of those original participants went on to co-found the official Solstice in Times Square movement.
Over the past 24 years, this neighborhood gathering has scaled dramatically, now welcoming thousands of participants throughout the day. It has become a staple of the Midtown summer calendar, showing how public spaces can adapt to bring a busy metropolitan community together for health, wellness, and shared local experiences.
Event Location and 2026 Class Schedule
The entire event takes place rain or shine right in the middle of the neighborhood. The yoga sessions are situated at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue, occupying the pedestrian plazas between 45th Street and 48th Street.
There are seven distinct free sessions scheduled throughout the day on Sunday, June 21, 2026:
- 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.: Ruchika Lal, presented by Consulate General of India, NY
- 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: Riva G, presented by Gaiam
- 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Erica Stanzione
- 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Divya Balakrishnan

- 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee
- 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: Douglass Stewart
In addition to the scheduled classes, don't forget to stop by the Yoga Village located between 47th Street and 48th Street. The village features interactive partner booths, local activities, and wellness giveaways. As an added bonus for neighborhood attendees, registered participants who check in and attend their session in person will receive a complimentary yoga mat courtesy of Gaiam, while supplies last.
