World Cup match days are bringing major traffic closures, bus lane restrictions, and commercial delivery bans to Fifth Avenue and Midtown Manhattan. Here's what visitors, clients, and neighbors need to know.

If you're planning to visit us, expecting a delivery, or just trying to get around Midtown over the next few weeks — read this first. Our office sits right on Fifth Avenue, directly in the heart of the action, and while we couldn't be more excited to have the world on our doorstep, we want to make sure it doesn't catch you off guard.
Here's everything you need to know to stay ahead of it.
Getting to the Office
Leave the car at home on match days. Seriously. Surface traffic on and around Fifth Avenue is going to be tough, and cabs and rideshares won't be much better. The subway is genuinely your best friend right now — it bypasses all of it.
What the city is doing on match days:
- Traffic restrictions kick in six hours before kickoff and stay in place three hours after the match ends
- Fifth and Sixth Avenues will have dedicated bus lanes reserved for municipal buses and official event shuttles — regular lanes stay open, but expect slow going
- 42nd Street closes completely to standard vehicles from First Ave to Twelfth Ave
- West 58th Street between Fifth and Sixth goes buses only
If you have a meeting or appointment with us, build in extra time — or go underground and breeze right through.
Deliveries, Packages & Couriers
This part matters a lot for our virtual office clients. The city is banning commercial truck deliveries across a wide Midtown grid — 30th to 60th Streets, river to river — during the same windows as the traffic restrictions.
That means courier arrivals, package deliveries, and commercial shipments to our address may be delayed or rescheduled on match days. If you're expecting something important, give your sender or courier a heads up and plan around the blackout windows. We'll do the same on our end to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
The Match Day Schedule
All eight match dates are official NYC Gridlock Alert Days. Save this list:
Saturday, June 14 — 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Tuesday, June 16 — 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Monday, June 22 — 2:00 PM to 1:00 AM
Thursday, June 25 — 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Saturday, June 27 — 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Tuesday, June 30 — 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Sunday, July 5 — 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Sunday, July 19 — World Cup Final — 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Outside those windows, things should be relatively normal. Plan around them and you'll be fine.
