Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival on 5th Avenue, NYC
Manhattan Virtual Office™ • March 24, 2023

The Fifth Avenue Easter Parade is a long-standing and highly-regarded tradition in New York City that dates back to the late 1800s. Originally established as a showcase for high society, the parade has evolved over the years into a more inclusive celebration of Easter and the spring season.

The parade's inception in 1886 saw New York's elite parade their Easter finery up Fifth Avenue from St. Patrick's Cathedral. The tradition quickly gained popularity, attracting thousands of spectators by the turn of the century. The parade became known for extravagant hats and clothing, with celebrities and socialites making appearances.

Despite a decline in the parade's popularity during the Great Depression, the 1960s saw renewed interest in the parade, leading to its current status as a beloved tradition. Today, the Fifth Avenue Easter Parade has a more relaxed vibe, with attendees strolling up and down Fifth Avenue to showcase their Easter outfits and take in the festive atmosphere.

Scheduled for Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, the parade will begin at 10:00 AM, commencing its route north on Fifth Avenue from 49th Street up to 57th Street. Spectators seeking the best views are encouraged to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, located on Fifth Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets.

All attendees are welcome to participate in the parade's festivities provided they don an Easter bonnet. Attendees are encouraged to express their creativity and exhibit whimsical headwear. Expect a colorful display of Easter bonnets, costumes, and springtime attire.

The parade promises an array of activities, including live music, entertainment, and food vendors, making it an excellent opportunity to celebrate Easter and the arrival of spring. The Fifth Avenue Easter Parade remains a beloved and highly-anticipated annual event, representing a cherished tradition in New York City. Attendees are strongly encouraged to experience the parade's captivating spectacle for themselves.
